InterMaps

InterMaps are an element of Wiki culture: you combine two words with CamelCaps and you get a link to a page where that concept is explained. Making links to an outside source should almost be that quick as that. (Wiki means 'quick' in Hawaiian and remains a watchword for Wiki culture.)

The way this is achieved within a wiki is by identifying where you're going and writing source:searchTerm, but the question is how to translate it.

I have five InterMaps written so far.

  1. CPAN -- This provides links into the Copnrehensive Perl Archive Network
  2. Google Trends -- This provides a link into Google Trends, which maps trends based on search and news popularity.
  3. Google Code Search -- Search Google Code for code pieces
  4. O'Reilly Code -- This provides links into O'Reilly's Code Library
  5. Request For Comments -- This provides links to RFCs, the documents that define internet protocols.

I sincerely hope you enjoy these tools. Use them in good health.
