Webmail Project

You can find the current Webmail client at webmail.purdue.org.

The Computer Society has long offerred its members email along with their shell accounts. Many members take advantage of this service, and usually use a text based mail client from their shell accounts. Others use a separate mail client from their private computers. Now Csociety is offering a webmail interface for our users. As well, we are opening our webmail client up to allow people with standard Purdue mail accounts to use it as well.

There are many webmail clients available. Csociety choose RoundCube because of its modern look and feel, plus its easy installation. RoundCube is written completely in PHP and is under the GPL license. Currently, our installation of RoundCube lives on a single machine built specially to host it. As more and more people make sure of this resource, the Computer Society team will need to scale the hosting servers to support the load.

If you are interested in this project or with web clustering, join Csociety!
