Computer Society Officers Meet 1/17/2002

Members present: Derrick Kearney, Will Andrews, Greg Veldman, Justin Miller

Meeting started @ 6:05

First order of business discussed was the Computer Society call-out.
  • Call out scheduled for Thursday 1/24/2002
  • Meet at MSEE B012 @ 7:00PM
  • Discussed need for flyers to be printed and posted around campus
  • Derrick, Greg, and Justin agreed to try and post overheads in their lectures. Derrick agreed to try and get transparencies made for Tuesday the week of the call-out
  • Greg will send an email out regarding posting flyers around campus to the csociety-officers mailling list
Next order of business was the topic of Projects
  • Greg has made an index of all books in the csociety library so project is still in need of some sort of web interface to check out the books
  • Seth has mentioned installing a serial console in the csociety office
  • We discussed getting a new server to help take load off of csociety.ecn.purdue.edu with funds from linux cd sales and other assorted sources including different corporations and ECN
  • Anyone else have suggestions for projects?

Will brought up that csociety should investigate getting some sort of label for the linux cds we sell or also investigate the option of getting cds from a source on the internet.

Lastly Derrick, Will, and Justin discussed the possibility of members of csociety giving technical presentations once a month(?)
  • Technical issues involved with the presentation include find a computer to give presentations with and finding a room with a overhead project for computers
