The Purdue University Computer Society is a chapter of the national IEEE Computer Society. Through recent
changes with the Computer Society, you must join the national branch to be
a full member of the local Computer Society. As well, we, the Purdue Computer
Computer Society, offer a lower level of membership. This level of membership
requires no dues, just that you fill out a local membership form.
Joining the local group will add you to our low-traffic announcement
mailing list. We use the list to keep you up-to-date on upcoming events and important
announcements.
Joining the national IEEE Computer Society is provides you many benefits as outlined on
their website. These include a subscription to Computer magazine,
a great information source for up and coming computer technology, and
being involved with a highly-respected and well-known professional
organization. If you are interested in joining the national organization,
please stop by our office in EE 14 to pick up a membership form.
In addition to all of the friends and knowledge you'll gain, we can
offer these tangible items:
Accounts on our computer network, currently 3 computers running
Linux. These computers may be accessed remotely via ssh, or you
may stop by our office and use them in your free time.
Access to our technical library. We have many books covering a
range of interests.
A chance to get involved in technical projects and attend presentations.
If you would like more information, come visit us in room EE 14 during
our office hours. Our office was recently
remodeled and is a great place to kill time between classes, do homework,
or chat with the officers. Our desks are located in the back of the
office (we share it with IEEE). If you can't make it during our office
hours, send mail to info@csociety.org to
contact the officers, and we will make arrangements to meet you.
